Rat Stats: Which Crochet Rat Plushie Colors Were Most Popular in 2025?

A circle of rat crochet plushies with their noses faced inward in shades of gray and brown. In the center the text reads "2025 Rat Statistics"

Handmade crochet rat plushies are the biggest seller in my Etsy shop. In the 2025 holiday season, I was making multiple a day. It felt like a never-ending stream of rat orders, which is a great problem to have. 😆 So let’s look at some statistics for November and December 2025. I want to know which rats are most popular so I can be prepared for 2026.

A dark gray crochet rat plushie. The text on the image reads "#1 color dark gray" and "15 ordered Nov-Dec 2025"

The #1 color ordered: dark gray! I always thought light gray would be most popular, but I sold 15 of these dark gray rats in November and December. This is may more than any of the 11 other color options I offer.

A bar chart showing which rat colors were most ordered. The title reads "65 rats ordered Nov-Dec 2025". Each bar of the chart has an image of the coordinating rat above it. The chart shows that dark gray had 15 orders, light gray had 6 orders, cloudy gray had 7 orders, mushroom had 4 orders, marshmallow had 5 orders, cream had 11 orders, shell had 3 orders, light brown had 2 orders, brown had 4 orders, dark brown had 3 orders, black had 4 orders, and charcoal gray had 1 order.

The second most popular color was cream. Almost half of the cream rats were ordered with red eyes instead of black.

Did you think dark gray would be most popular? Which color is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

I think I will be using the bar chart to prepare inventory for the 2026 holiday season. It seems I could benefit from having a few dark gray, cream, cream with red eyes, cloudy gray, and light gray rats in stock ahead of time. My rat listing is made-to-order, but if I have them prepared ahead of time I can ship sooner.

A collage of 5 pictures of crochet rat plushies. Each is labeled with it's color - cream, cloudy gray, marshmallow, dark brown, and black. All 5 rat plushies have red eyes. The text reads "5 rat colors chosen with red eyes" and "total of 10 red-eye rats ordered"

Speaking of red eyes, 10 of the 65 total rats were ordered with red eyes. 5 cream, 2 marshmallow, 1 cloudy gray, 1 black, and 1 dark brown. I was surprised to see these ordered with the darker rat colors, but I actually love how the red eyes look against the black rat.

A collage of 4 pictures. Each picture shows a grouping of 3 rat crochet plushies in assorted shades of gray and brown. The text reads "more frequently sold in 3's than 2's"

Another surprising stat is that I sold rats in groups of 3 more frequently than I sold them in groups of 2. Of course, the most were sold individually.

14 rat crochet plushies, arranged on a white desk with a plant in the background. The rats are in various shades of gray and brown and are all facing the camera. The text reads "made to order rat plushies at cubiecrochet.etsy.com"

The busiest weeks for rat plushie orders were as expected: the week of Thanksgiving and the week after. And rats were practically the only plushies I sold this holiday season, unlike previous years that had more variety.

These statistics were for just November and December of 2025, as I sold way more rats in those two months than the rest of the year. But made to order rat plushies can be ordered from my shop at any time, and they make excellent gifts! Get yours here.
